Here's the story:
Mr. Joe taught Breaking (aka breakdancing) for 14 years as an artist in education. He used to take any toy he could find and either try to make it spin or do a "freeze" (a pose in Breaking). Nothing worked quite the way he hoped.
During the holidays of 2007, Mr. Joe was given polymer clay as a gift, and the first figurine he ever made spun like no toy before it. It was an "Ah-Ha" moment!
Years were spent developing and refining the figures. The process was challenging, but therapeutic. Joe realized that he was experiencing something amazing. While making each and every figurine, he just believed! He believed in the possibilities for all of humanity. He believed in his own potential, and he believed that these figurines were symbols or tokens of "all things good and possible. What you believe to be good and possible - so do they!"
Joe started to refer to his B=INGS as Hope Figures, as though they were the opposite of a worry stone. He just kept dreaming and believing, and thought it so wonderful to have something that was always there to encourage a person to be hopeful. It was simply meant to be and makes sense. Hope figures.
