Sister ship with Nigitsu Maru, they were incomplete passenger vessels converted to landing craft carriers with flight deck for the Imperial Japanese Army. Mostly used as aircraft ferry during WW2.
contains 1x 1941 version (with the single 5" X-turret) and 2x late-war (1944) version (X turret removed, additional light AA) Please note I used round bridges for all; the first 6 (of 10 total) originally had angular/sharp-edged bridges but were refitted some time mid-war (1942-43)
Purpose-built landing craft carrier pioneering the concept of amphibious assault ships (modern-day LHA and LHD). Landing crafts can be launched via flooded well deck at the stern, hatches at the side and the fore main derrick (further readings via Wikipedia, Navypedia and Combinedfleet.com)
Please note forward main derrick arm located underneath/inside the hollow space of the hull; boom abaft mainmast not included (see Shapeways stock vs. my rendered image)
