Best-known as the creator of pop star Katy Perry’s iconic fruit-inspired ensembles, fashion designer Julie Mollo is the go-to stylist for rockstars and party girls looking to make a brazen statement. Her witty, inventive take on retro fashion guarantees a standout look in a sea of similarity.
Since getting the gig to dress Katy Perry while still a student at Pratt Institute, Mollo’s designs have been widely featured on television and in print. Glamour, Nylon, Entertainment Weekly, MSNBC and The Boston Globe are only a few of the notable media outlets that have documented her style legacy.
Growing up in the tiny town of Grafton in Massachusetts, the stylist was encouraged by family members to create her own style philosophy. Her grandmother was a skilled seamstress who made all of her daughter's childhood clothing and her mother hand-made crafts. Their individualism inspired the D.I.Y. queen in the budding designer and she often altered clothes to her own aesthetic.
The now Brooklyn-based designer brings retro-focused, expressive clothing and lifestyle goods to style rebels everywhere through entertainment, fashion design and styling company Julie Mollo LLC. In another life, the Creative Director would have been a rock star, but in this lifetime she has decided to make clothing & accessories that rock.
