This snowflake is modeled after the acorn motif found throughout Grand Central Terminal, New York City's famous train station. Next time you are at the ticket window, look at the decorations surrounding it - you'll find the attractive metal design that inspired this piece. Acorns are found throughout the Terminal as they were the adopted "crest" of the Vanderbilt family - owners of the railroad.

This model is of Brewster station, located in Brewster, New York. The original station was built in 1931 by the New York Central Railroad. The line is still in operation, under the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Metro-North Railroad. I've tried to be as close to historically correct as possible - modeling the station not as it looks today, but as it looked when it was first built.
