A highly detailed HO Scale kit for a Canadian National General Service Gondola.
250 cars were built by the Eastern Car Company in 1915 for the Canadian Government Railways, #100277- 100526, soon becoming the newly fomed Canadian National Railways' #100277- 100526. Between 1938 and 1942, 245 of these cars were rebuilt to become CN's #124750-124999.
The kit represents these cars as rebuilt, with AB air brakes. It would be a simple matter to replace the kit's brake cylinder with a combined K brake cylinder/ reservoir/ triple valve and add a vertical handbrake to backdate the car.
The kit includes a 1/16" space under the inner floor, allowing the modeller to include a lead or steel weight which will bring the car up to the NMRA recommended weight- unlike the tremendously heavy Ulrich metal cars or the featherweight Detail Associates kits of the past .
It appears only one car from this series survives, CN #124882 at Exporail. A separate kit represents 124882 with added end bracing, but without the extensive body damage that likely ended the car's career.
Available in FUD or FXD acrylic.
