Product Description
This is a set of gears of my own design. A frame and all parts necessary are included. There is a place to mount a small electric motor and it can be driven with a rubber band. It is unusual in that the gears overlap each other and as with all non-circular gears, constant rotation on the center gear is converted to periodically varying rotation in the other gears. The result is an oddly hypnotic piece of kinetic art that would be very difficult to produce without 3D tech. The YouTube video below gives you an idea of the motion. Although it could be printed as one unit (as I have done with another similar piece in my gallery), I made it so the various parts could be colored individually. Also on that same YouTube channel you can see a piece called "Peanut Props" that is similar. There is a video of the actual printed piece spinning.
