1:24 Frankfort Triangle 2

This is one of a series of signs designed for my 1:24 scale outdoor (garden) railroad. I did them because all my eariler attempts at outdoor signs, mostly paper based, were in bad shape in three months no matter how thoroughly I sprayed them with sealant. The earliest of these 3d signs has been outdoors year round in central weather since August 22, 2013 and is still in excellent shape.

The design process:

– Use exisiting MS Excel sign layout drawing
– Finalize in MS Word to get a better border
– Convert to .pdf
– Use Zamzar Conversion to make it a .jpg
– Use Shapeways 2D to 3D to make the model
– Submit model
