My 3D model is a Minecraft figure in the steampunk genre. Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that typically features steam powered machinery rather than advanced technology. Steampunk is based on the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, when people started to use steam to power machines.
Mixing steampunk and Minecraft is a unique idea. Human figures of the steampunk genre usually wear flying goggles, bustles, corsets, gowns, and petticoats, suits with waistcoats, overcoats, tailcoats, top hats, and spats. Steampunk fashion emphasizes on heavy brass and gears. The steampunk Minecraft character I designed wears a steampunk exoskeleton on his left arm and right leg. Adding an exoskeleton is an amazing update to a traditional Minecraft figure. As a matter of fact, I know that most, if not all, kids enjoy mind blowing upgrades to Minecraft. I believe that the whole steampunk Minecraft is a satisfying and awesome “enhancement.”
The majority of kids these days love to play Minecraft. Furthermore, kids enjoy new entities added to Minecraft, whether those additions are in the game or are toys. I observe that most kids enjoy the cool looks of metal armor and the concept of flying. My design incorporates a commending brass exoskeleton and a powerful jetpack to thrust the character. Those features will make kids attracted to my design.
In addition to the amusement factors of my design, it will also have commercial value. People who are attracted to Minecraft may become curious about steampunk. At the same time, steampunk enthusiast might become attracted to minecraft. My product/figure will be a win-win situation for the steampunk and Minecraft’s community because it will increase its’ audience and users.
My 3D design strays from the traditional character by mixing steampunk and Minecraft. Because kids are getting tired of the “Steve” and “Alex,” they will be mesmerized by my character. My figure will introduce a new genre to the already popular Minecraft universe.
Some examples of steampunk work are:
Bioshock Infinite
The Three Musketeers (2011 film)
Sherlock Holmes (2009 film)
