Product Description
This is a European style papermaking deckle to pair with my Papermaking Mould Frame and Laid Mould Surface. This set of three parts produces sheets of handmade paper 8 x 10 inches in size. Search papermaking on the Shapeways website to find all three parts. I'm providing this model at no cost other than what Shapeways charges.
Shapeways requires holes in models to remove excess build material. These holes need to be plugged with silicone of other material to prevent the interior of the deckle from filling up with water. The holes are required due to this method of 3D printing called Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). Ideally this model would be printed using FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) as a solid model with an infill pattern but printing it this way is much more expensive unless you have access to a hobbyist FDM printer.
You can also download the model itself and change it. If you do come up with your own improved version please let me know.
