Product Description

This is an electrostatic potential map of the Testosterone molecule (the main male sex hormone), from a VRML model by Gijs Schaftenaar, created using Gamess-US and Molden. The scale is 50 million to one: 1 nm in the real molecule corresponds to 5 cm in the model, and 1 Å corresponds to 0.5 cm. On this scale a model of a watermelon would be the size of the Earth. The colors: green = neutral, red = negative potential, blue = positive potential.

This molecule is also known under the name of (8R,9S,10R,13S,14S,17S)-17-hydroxy-10,13-dimethyl-1,2,6,7,8,9,11,12,14,15,16,17-dodecahydrocyclopenta[a]phenanthren-3-one. In Helen Fisher's theory of romantic love it belongs to the Director type.
