<p>At some point in the 90s the Taiwanese Navy attempted to obtain the Aegis system through building a extensively modified version of the Oliver Hazard Perry (Cheng Kung) class frigate. The exact detail of the planned ship is still unknown but general features of the ship includes a lengthened hull, a top mounted miniature PESA array, VLS and one or two phalanx CIWS. Eventually cost overrun caused the program to be aborted, and the the supposed Aegis frigate Tien Tan remained on paper to this day.</p>
