The Design:
The design for this cuff came from a fascination with the textures and patterns created in dry cracked mud. When mud begins to dry fissures are formed into natural geometric patterns (google "dry cracked mud" for some cool images). The polygon pattern of the cuff developed out of that. But rather than create a flat depiction of it I wanted to create something more 3 dimensional so I gave the design of the cuff some dimension -- the top side has the geometric pattern while the bottom side is solid with space in between to create more interesting play with the forms and with light.
The design was 3D modeled then 3D printed in a black-dyed nylon plastic. It has a tapered form that is larger at the top and narrows near the cuff opening. A hollow center allows the cuff to have a little flex when sliding it on from the narrow side of your wrist.
