This die is for those people who want their d6 to be more like a d4.
The shape is based on a triangular dipyramid (two d4s stuck together) for which all the sharp edges have been rounded off. (Basically, it is the intersection of a sphere and a triangular dipyramid).
Because the underlying shape is isohedral, I believe this die to be fair.
Since the faces aren't parallel, each upfacing edge is labelled on two sides with the result (one through six).
The result is listed on either side of the most upward vertex with the bottom of the number pointing down at the table.
For a regular (i.e. not rounded off) dipyramid d6 see friz's "
Isodie 4" which is also numbered on the edges (albeit in a different way than here).
For a interesting implementation which allows the faces to be numbered normally, see loki3's "
d6 die-pyramid".
And for a d3 triangular dipyramid where you sum to the two upshowing faces to get the result, see my design
here.
