Leica Summilux Focus Tab Replacement

A brass focus tab casted from 3D printed parts, it will fit your Summilux 35mm pre-asph lens. This was cadded to an extremely close similarity as the original unlike other tabs offered on Shapeways! You will have to DIY the replacement.

Attaching
The original focus tab has a screw to hold it in place. This is the usual reason why they break in the middle. As such I have not included any holes within this model to prevent the same issue. This tab attaches well with a small bit of two part resin and can well hold the movement with no issues (never not detached since I put it on two years ago).

Compatibility
I have attempted to fit this tab on a Elmarit 28mm V3 and Summicron 35mm V4. Both have slightly larger radius than the Summilux this was made for - but since brass can be shaped with force, you can adjust the shape with a small bit of force. This can be done by placing the focus tab upside down, and pressing on the indented part with your thumb. Please see additional photos with Summicron 35 V4.

Painting
I have experimented with several paint to blacken the focus tab, including
1. Krylon Black Primer Flat
2. Do-It Gloss Black Spray
3. Tamiya Enamel Paint
Krylon lasts the longest without peeling. Tamiya Enamel Paint gives the best texture and look after painting but peels faster - and it has to be applied with a sponge. The Summicron 35 V4 photo is the Tamiya Enamel Paint.
