Product Description
Named after the World War II U.S. Navy ship commander Lieutenant Ernest E. Evans who commanded the U.S.S. Johnston DD-557 ata the battle off of Samar. Commander Evans lead a small force against a vasily superior Japanese naval force in what was called a "mismatch of mythic porportions". Commander Evans lead his forces against the Japanese armada with the largest weapon being a 5in guns. He got to within 5 miles to use his torpedoes depite all of the fire that was being thrown at him. The Japanese forces ended up withdrawing from the battle with the impression they were being attcked ny a larger force than what they thought were there. Even though Commander Evans didn't survive the battle he did win it. Because of that victory he became a hero to me and why I made a Excelsior class Dreadnought with his name on it.
