Product Description
Shortly after the appearance of the Sovereign-class oceangoing dreadnought in the waters of the Sondorian Empire, Lord Admiral Stanislav Karamazov of Alexandria ordered the construction of dreadnoughts in order to keep his navy up to speed. The Sovereign design was copied, with only very minor changes made before construction began. The two classes of ships were both 160 metres long, displaced 20 000 tonnes, had a top speed of 20 knots, and were armed with ten 305mm cannons in five turrets, both in the same basic arrangement. The only real difference was that the number two and three turrets were moved inward so that the loading column, and by extension, the magazines, were not so close to the outside of the hull, and thus less vulnerable to exploding in the event the ship is struck by a torpedo. Four ships were ordered, but after the first was completed, Stanislav found numerous flaws in it, and ordered the development of another class. The other three ships laid down were still completed, and no more were ordered, in favour of the larger and faster Nadezhda-class.
