Compound Fracture Puzzle

Geometry:
The Compound Fracture puzzle is based on my Fracture-10 puzzle, but with an additional "twist". With Compound Fracture, 45 degree turns can be used, allowing face and edge pieces to exchange places. This makes solving Compound Fracture very difficult, despite the fact that it has only four axes of rotation. In fact, it can be very hard just to restore the puzzle to its' original shape, let alone unscramble the colors!

Other Items Needed:
Dye: If you want the puzzle to be black, you can save money by dyeing the pieces yourself with a nylon dye such as RIT or Dylon. Or Shapeways can dye the parts for you at an additional cost.
Stickers: Template available in the instructions forum. If you want professionally cut stickers, I recommend Oliver’s Stickers.
Screws & Springs: Two M3 x 12mm screws needed. No springs required.

Degree of Difficulty:
Assembly: Moderately easy assembly.
Solving: Extremely difficult to solve.

Playability:
Compound Fracture has a robust mechanism that does not pop apart, and turns easily.
