Three Squares Developing Fractal Gasket

This sculpture is based on a fractal gasket derived from a square divided into four smaller squares. One of the four is removed, and the resulting polygon (an "L" tromino) is substituted for each of the remaining three squares. This process is iterated to generate a fractal. The base of the model is the starting square, and the first six iterations are stacked on top of it. Ramps between generations are added to create smooth transitions between them. Three of these models could be fit together to add a generation to the fractal (or nine to add two generations, ...).
