1/700 Nadezhda-Class Dreadnought

The "production" version of the Nadezhda-class dreadnought.  The quotes, of course, are mainly because only two such ships were made, versus the single, slightly different prototype Nadezhda itself.  The appearance of the flying galleon in Karaden and flying bireme in Sondor prompted Alexandrian shipbuilders to alter the design of the central battery, focusing more on anti-aircraft guns than on countermeasures against torpedo boats.  This, of course, required the development of better turrets for the 152.4mm cannons, which were installed on Mighty Viskar and Zavoyevatel' ("Conqueror") on the decks.  In addition, the new design had greater provision for smaller 76.2mm anti-aircraft guns, out of fear by the designers that aeroplanes, which had been derided up to that point as "interesting toys, but of no military value," would eventually become a serious threat to surface ships, as they could carry torpedoes, and were even more difficult to target than boats.  The only genuine drawback to the design change was the fact that lifeboats had to be suspended far above the deck between the fore and aft conning towers.
