Part 3 for the Kauila Kit.
This stacks first printing was in Black Strong Flexible material. As you can see from the image above, it is very black and very layered. I would recommend just purchasing this stack in White Strong Flexible material and painting it as I did.
STEPS TO PAINTING
1- Take a soft brush and dust the surface of the model off completely.
2- Secure the model in a manner that requires no handling for painting.
3- Liberally Spray 4 layers of Rustoleum Multi Purpose Primer waiting no more than one hour between coats. Do not sand in between these layers.
4- Let sit for 24 hours or untill the primer is no longer tacky to the touch.
5- Lightly sand the surface being carefully not to completely expose the material below the primer.
6- Spray on final coat of Rustoleum Multi Purpose Primer and let it dry for at leat 24 hours or until the pimer is no longer tacky (48 hours at most)
7- Lightly sand the final coat of primer till surfaces are smooth and clear of imperfections.
8- Apply one coat of the paint color you prefer and let dry.
9- After required drying time lightly sand this coat and add additional coats as required. The image above is of 2 coats of Poly Scale Engine Black Acrylic water base paint. I will add another two coats as that is my preference.
*NOTE
The Strong Flexible materials are very absorbent. It is important to spray the first 4 coats in a manner that allows the material to absorb the primer. Do not sand in between coats as this opens up the pores of the material and facilitates more wicking of paint creating uneven finished surfaces. Only sand the 4th and the final coats.
