Product Description
Calocyclas is a marine protist from the class Radiolaria. The single-celled amoeboid inhabitant and maker of this shell feeds by extruding pseudopods out through the holes in the shell, snagging prey and dragging it into the shell to be devoured. Ernst Haeckel described its shape as "a three-chambered shell; head with a strong, three-sided horn, bell-shaped thorax protected with many long radial spikes, and a wide abdomen with a wreath of many large vertical feet."
