Product Description
A total of 97 great circles form this sphere, based on the primary 25 symmetry circles of the cuboctahedron, plus the 72 additional great circles formed by using the intersections of the primary circles as axis points for other great circles. This was a set of great circles developed by Buckminster Fuller, who named the cuboctahedron the Vector Equilibrium because of the equal and balancing vectors from the center to its vertices, and the fact that it is composed of an octet truss (when the vectors to the central point are included). It is further described in Robert Gray's work at : http://www.rwgrayprojects.com/rbfnotes/greatc/greatc1.html This smaller model will print in plastic, brass, and bronze.
