Dandelion

A large model of a dandelion head, 8.2" in diameter. This is the maximum printable size without a large upcharge, and results in delicate product with a 1.3 mm minimum dimension for the florets petals, and 1.53 mm for the stems. The symmetry of the 12 icosahedron vertices is combined with that of the 30 icosahedron edge centers for a total of 42 seeds. It was made in Mathematica, with stems thickened and joined with the spheres and florets in Blender, and revised for greater strength for printing on 8/20/14.
