Product Description
The 'Sirdar' class is surprisingly one of the least known of Kerr Stuart's builds, unlike the Tattoo, Joffre and Skylark's they didn't end up being scattered across the UK. The class is quite similar to the Skylark itself, just being quite small in comparison. They found their way across the globe, specifically Africa working in mines and sugar plantations. Despite this a few were dotted around the British Isles, perhaps the most well known of these being the recently restored 'Diana' on the Bala Lake Railway. This model is based on the standard Sirdar, cataloged and distrubted by Kerr Stuart.

This model has been redesigned over the past 3 and a half years to suit different custom chassis, after these plans fell through I decided that the Minitrains F&C chassis would be the best option to accomplish a good running model, despite structural modifications needed to aaccommodate  the enormous motor and flywheel.

To complete the model, soak for an hour in white spirit and wash carefully with warm water. Some sanding down may be needed depending on the quality of the print. To fit the chassis, remove the plastic outside frames, cut down the front of the chassis block that protrudes past the cylinder block and the short length that sticks out behind the motor. I would recommend a hacksaw or Dremel slitting disc. Next you need to sand down the 'pips' on the cylinder block then your body is ready to be fitted. To complete the body, a small section of brass, plastic or card can be used for the roof. But before fitting, ensure you have fitted the wire supports into the holes in the rear cab plate. For couplings, there are two slots to suit Greenwich couplings at two separate heights but if you're feeling classy then a set of Penryhn sprung buffers from RT Models will look spot on! After this, all you need to do is paint and detail to suit your requirements.

Enjoy!
