Product Description
The last heavy tank built by the Soviet Union, the T-10 began development in 1948 as the IS-8, and after several modifications finally entered production as the IS-10 in 1952... a year before Stalin died.  In the wake of the political turmoil, the tank was renamed T-10.  The T-10 was originally armed with the 122mm cannon included in this print, but the later T-10A added a fume extractor, and the T-10M had a longer barrel and a more modern 5-baffle muzzle break.

With such severe angles all over the hull, the T-10 could deflect shots from almost any direction, and with added NBC protection, the tank was almost invincible.  As a result of its effectiveness as a deep battle defense unit, the T-10 was not exported to satellite countries as its contemporaries were, such as the T-54/55 and T-62.  Though heavy tanks had been rendered obsolete by the 1960s, the T-10 was such a well-built machine that it remained in service of the Russian Federation until 1993, 27 years after production had stopped.

This model includes two main guns, one with a fume extractor, which first appeared on the T-10A, and one without, used on the initial production variant.  The T-10M is available as another complete model in my shop.
