Solhanna is a legendary figure in Rhunnish culture, one who fiercely defended the powerless from the onslaught of the inquisition, which had been burning peasant women at the stake for witchcraft. Some claimed she was an angel of vengeance, the ghost of a woman burned at the stake by her own husband, who chose not to even entertain the idea of her innocence. Others believed that she was actually an immortal snow-nymph wearing enchanted armour that protected her during summer months. Solhanna's armour and weapons bore a round version of this design (see the matching pendant). Since all stories about her are consistent only in that Solhanna never once spoke, her true motives were never known. In any case, her existence was the only comfort that peasants had when caught under tyrannical rule. The story was suppressed by the church, but persisted in some form or another in remote places until discovered and revived during Alexandra's Conquest. Alexandra Skharnova saw the story as a lightning rod to draw the common people to her cause, and thus she was able to build a huge army, overthrow the various ruling dynasties, and unite all of the Rhunnish lands under her own banner.
