Ring with the inscription "This Too Shall Pass" which is a proverb indicating that all material conditions, positive or negative, are temporary. The phrase seems to have originated in the writings of the medieval Sufi poets, and is often attached to a fable of a great king who once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "This too shall pass". How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction! Many versions of the fable add the detail that the phrase is inscribed on a ring.
