Product Description
Lead ship of 5,500 ton light cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy of WW2. Similar in appearance to Tama, except the deck extends to port of the aircraft catapult, anti-rain caps on all three stacks, and lookout posts further back (middle) than Tama.
She participated in the invasion of the Philippines, and campaigns along Dutch East Indies and New Guinea.
In 11 January 1944, she was hit by torpedoes from the submarine HMS Tally Ho northwest off Penang. The resulting list to starboard and the stern going under caused the detonation of depth charges she carried.
