@GoldSwordDesigns. Hi! In fact not exactly. This is due to several parameters. They should be easier to manage for someone with an engeneer background, but i ran about 20 prototypes before i get a satisfying result. In fact the "balls" are not exactly spherical, but lenticular. This is because the contact surface will wear off, ending up with a spherical shape. The biggest diameter is the same size of the hole but it will be tighter after printing, because of the layered strucutre of the material. You will notice the balls are cut or hollowed. this is to give them the right smoothness so it is not too hard to fit them inside the socket. There's also another reason for this: the thicker the part is, the more it shrink when cooling down, resulting in a different diameter. This process required for me many iterations as it is quite empirical. A model could react in a different way if it is printed horizontaly or verticaly, due to the layered nature of this printing process. If the model is supposed to be polished, it is even tougher to deal with these constrains, as it may not be abrased as much/evenly each time, so i decided to protect the balls from sanding by adding a cover on the sprue. Question: The joints are all made up of a ball and socket. Is the size of the "ball" the exact size of the socket indent?
