Product Description
Being a gamer for many years, I was always searching for weird and uncommon dice to enhance my player’s game experience and add to my modest collection. Since then I have seen many interesting designs but none that would engage the legendary d1000, the Holy Grail of dice! Up until now, the need to roll a die with a thousand faces was usually satisfied by rolling three separate d10 dice, a cheap solution that was neither practical nor elegant.
With this in mind and even though the actual need for a d1000 is limited to large probability tables, the fact that there has never been a physical manifestation of this artifact, made the desire to make one irresistible. Thus was the ‘’d1000 Spinner’’ born. The spinner design was the only logical and practical solution to the problem. The intricate three-level mechanics make it possible that each level spins on its own, with different speed, so as to ensure randomness.
Note: The final product has been updated based on observations made on the printed prototype (in WSF) you can see. The numbers have been enlarged to promote readability up to 100%, a few geometry errors were fixed, the handle shortened and the mechanics improved to allow for a more effortless spin.
WARNING! The d1000 will be printed with (4) four different parts, attached to each other. These will have to be cut, assembled and the top handle glued to the axis, if needed. Depending on the material you print, you may have to treat with sandpaper, remove any excess material and possibly add a lubricant to the contact points of the spinner axis.
