DJI Phantom Wide Battery Landing Gear

Give your DJI Phantom a custom look with this beautiful Battery Landing Gear and upgrade your in flight battery capacity with the integrated battery mounts, which allows you to mount two batteries in a parallel setup for longer flight times. The steep front leg design makes this landing gear ideal for use with a gimbal, and in addition it also looks great on your Phantom.

Depending on your Phantom (Naza-M) voltage settings you can get 12 to 20 minutes of flight-time in parallel setup.

  • 4 - 6mm aluminum or carbon tubing (choose your own length)
Check your local DIY shop or eBay for 6mm hollow aluminium tubing.
And for 6mm hollow carbon fiber tubing check eBay.

  • Additional comments:
    • Depending of the size of you gimbal mount it can be to big for use with a parallel battery setup. If this is the case you need to lower your gimbal with some kind of filler piece.
    • For loosening and fastening the phantom compass don't use a screwdriver with a magnetic head!! And make sure that you mount the compass perpendicular to the body, in a vertical position for best flight performance.
    • If you decide to go for the color white, than keep in mind that this color can become discolored over time (sun, dirt, touch etc.).
    • For best flight performance I recommend you do a compass calibration after installing this upgrade.

The Power Battery door upgrade shown in the photos and video above is not included with this landing gear and is available as an separate upgrade.
I can not be held responsible for any kind of defects or damage that arise when performing this upgrade

Oops.. you're right! The first time I ordered this I didn't see a polished version.. it's there now (and maybe then?).. Well, I will wait for my Phantom 2 then and try to attach the Phantom 1 gear (your gear) on it, then report back if it fits (and order another one..). :-)

@Squawk I haven’t able to get my hands on the new Phantom 2 or vision so I’m not 100% sure if it wil fit. The landing gear is available in polished white and the polished colors: coral red, royal blue, violet purple and hot pink.

Second question, can you offer an option to get these parts from shapeways in "polished" condition?

Maikel, will this landing gear mod fit the Phantom 2 Vision and Phantom 2?

Two weeks ago i bought the battery holder gear. A great design. Too bad the linkrods broke inmediately during installation ( too tiny plastic), however a view days later after order i noticed a improved version on the web... A replacement for the broken rods was however offered for a limited amount. Better would have been a notification about the new upgrade avaiable a few days after order, i was apparently not the only one with this problem. But general, a nice design but still a bit weak.

@maikelsdesign Welp, your a genius. After tweeking the settings I have achieved a 16min flight time with both batteries and a gopro attached. This is a great mod to buy so everyone that's seeing this, buy it you'll love it.

@ppresley86 Check out these videos for optimizing your naza-m settings. and if you want to fly with somewhat safer settings, then see this video

@maikelsdesign I just got my battery landing gear in and all set up. Setup was pretty easy just needed a little sanding to get some parts to fit right. Everything is held in place very snug and does not shift in flight. However with the second battery on board I was only seeing about a 2min longer flight time. Using 2 40c 2200 11.1v batteries. Any ideas on how to get a better flight time???

@ppresley86 Thanks for purchasing one of my designs! For now a EC3 version of the power battery door is not on my priority list but I'll will put it on my to-do list. Thanks.

@maikelsdesign I just purchased these new leg's and was wondering if you also made the power battery door in a ec3 version. I have reconfigured my phantom and got rid of the xt60 connectors and switched to ec3. If you can get something like that made I would love to purchase it.

@maikelsdesign Very good I get it now the latter is lighter. I actually just remembered that I have some carbon fiber battery mounts that I purchased. So I will get the other set and use the carbon fiber battery mounts. Thanks. I am excited. Lastly, why so long on delivery's Just curious?
    October 15, 2013, 4:43 pm
@mcates Depending on how you attach your batteries, and how big they are you probably need to lower the gimbal 1 or 2cm. The difference between the two is that the DJI Phantom Wide Battery Landing Gear (this page) has two integrated battery mounts where you can attach two lipo’s. The DJI Phantom Wide Landing Gear (you mention in the link) does not have these integrated battery mounts. Other than that they are exactly the same.

I am confused on the two version you have here.. This one and then I am not sure which to get??
    October 15, 2013, 3:35 pm
@maikelsdesign I do not believe there is a way to do that (lower the gimbal). If I can find something, how low does it need to go is the question, I have some extra carbon fiber that I can use a a space but how much is the question
    October 15, 2013, 3:29 pm
@mcates In combination with a parallel battery setup you probably need to lower the gimbal with some kind of filler piece or the gimbal mount will get in the way of the external batteries.

Hello, Can you use a the DJI Zenmuse H3-2D Gimbal for the GoPro HERO3 with these landing gear?
