FD and FUD are now inside the standard material catalog "Hurraaaa".
But the startup costs for one element destroys my business case completly.
I do understand that there are startup and handling costs. FD and FUD is very suitable for small and thin parts. But adding to each element $5 eliminates this material from being interesting.
Maybe that's only my problem, if not there should be a discussion going on.
Two points don't amuse me:
1) oncemore going to the list of items to change the default material away from FD. The discussion about csv up/download is already ongoing. But the effect that the default price has been raised by $5 over night for each of my elements discourages new people to enter the shop oncemore.
2) Since shapeway's business case has also to be workable for the shop owners. Was anybody asked if this pricing model makes sense?
Maybe startup costs for one material one time and handle cost per item would be a better method:
buying 1 piece: $4 (startup) + $1 (handling) + Volume price
buying 10 pieces: $4 + 10x ( $1 (handling) + Volume price )
which makes a big difference
