Hi folks,
I'm wondering if someone could help me on this topic.
I have a fairly simple 3D model (cube-ish with raised text) that I'd like to print in colour sandstone (simple : black, with the only the raised text in white).
I use Creo CAD and have close to zero skills in colouring/texturing.
I tried the following :
- apply the colours in Creo (super easy) then export in vrml : Fail.
Creo exports vrml with loads of "nodes" in the file, so shapeways upload fails. I edited the text file manually (pretty long), but even then the Shapeways upload fails (manual edit is risky, I probably deleted too much nodes).
- export in stl, vertex paint in Meshlab, re-export : Fail.
Looks crappy. And Shapeways upload fails anyway.
- vertex paint in Photoshop CS6 : Fail.
Looks crappy. Upload seems to work though.
- same as the above in Sculptris : Fail, sort of.
Looks quite decent. But Sculptris only exports in .obj, which is not supported by Shapeways for colour sandstone (supported by a competitor, however, but I'd prefer to use shapeways for this).
I'm close to giving up no this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
(I attached a picture and an stl of the stuff).
