EDIT: Sorry, I realized I just posted this in probably the wrong place. But please, still message me if you can help! I'm very new to 3D printing, I haven't really printed much. I went onto thinigverse and found a couple things, but after reading a little it says I might need 'supports' for the printing to work. Can somebody please help show me how to do this? I'm using google SketchUp. Heres a picture of the things I'm trying to print http://i.imgur.com/T5cciYf.png Thanks!
You don't need any supports when printed by Shapeways. It uses a different tecnology than Reprap style printers that extrude heated plastic out of a print head, building up the layers. https://bit.ly/1zqY31E Shapeways uses the material as it's own support. https://bit.ly/1GgOkLz This may help you understand. https://bit.ly/1zqUxEh
when you print with your own FDM-printer, so you can make the support using the slicer program (the generator of G-Code) as a stepp of the processing. **don't use sketchup. It is not for this usage, it is just for architecs. Use Blender, Meshmixer or Meshlab
