    Hey there,

I thought a useful tool for Shapeways would be to run a 'model check' - essentially, the ability to quickly upload a model and run a check to see if it is acceptable by your system. I'm designing some fairly complex models and I'd like to check at normal intervals to make sure my latest changes haven't 'broken' it, as it were. It's just a little cumbersome to create a model and update the file every time.

    Thanks,

I have found that NetFabb Basic (free) will do an adequate check on most models.
It will automatically report to you if you have any bad geometry in the model, and with the measuring tool, you can spot-check a few areas around your model to see if the walls are all the proper thickness. It's essentially the same level of checking that the production people use right before the model is printed.

It also reports to you the volume of the model.. good for a quick guess at the final price.
