Hi all, I know it's not a new concept, but when I saw the Autodesk Photofly 2.0 video, I had to try it out! Get the software here : https://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/photo_scene_editor/ Using pictures like this: A hasty attempt gave some awesome results: 3D Budha model "scanned" with Photofly Very user friendly and usable stuff!
That's a very clean image, but I notice it's taken from the same perspective as the photo. It even has the specular highlight. Can you show us the back?
It's pretty much WYSIWYG based on input pictures. So using a point light source (sun) is not ideal either, as the specular gets scanned with it. In this the case the back was terrible in my photos (silhouettes) and I did a too hasty job, it has left some gaps there. I'll try again as soon as I have my indoor lighting setup ready.
obj color which can be converted to wrl with meshlab: https://www.shapeways.com/model/296435/budha_scan.html?gid=ft
This is incredible - the following guy on YouTube claims he tried many services such as this yet this one is by far the best in terms of tight mesh stitching and overall result - Loading the scanned obj to zbrush has some huge potential on every aspect of 3d modeling & 3d printing - checkout this 4 parts tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4VebRhdQVY&feature=mfu_i n_order&list=UL
