This Dalek is based on the toys that were produced by Character Options, and it has been styled to look like Mechmasters Type6 Dalek. You can find more info on Mechmasters Daleks in the link below. Although it still needs painting I think it has turned out better that I expected. I think I will keep my next one more modular to aid finishing and painting.
Really, really nice. I was going to design a "real" one but your caricature version is much better. Would go well with my Tardis !! https://www.shapeways.com/model/123277/dr_who_s_tardis__5_cm_ .html Glenn
Very cool. Would love to see more modular robots on Shapeways... What if we had standard sizes for component interfaces so they could be mixed and matched? Say, 2mm diameter holes in body parts for neck/arm/leg 4mm long, 2mm diameter prongs to insert external parts to body. that way we could order each others parts and make composite robots??
Love it! A lot of the robots I'm working on will be able to swap parts with each other, but a system of community designed robots is a fantastic idea! Andy
This is really cool! Is it legal to sell Doctor Who merchandise on Shapeways? I'm from the US but LOVE all things Doctor Who!
I believe that since it is a CARICATURE this is a "workaround" to this problem, just as it is in various other forms of art.
Roofu has a point as this is very close to the toys that were available. Saying that every part of it is different to the toys, but I guess you have to be a Dalek fanatic to spot the difference. As its not available to buy I cant see it being a problem. I see it just like a scratch build. Anyway glad you all like it.
