Retro Rocket Models and Replicas

Accurate scale replicas of aerospacecraft, satellites and sci-fi models.   From the mid nineties to late '05 I was dba Retro Rocket.  I mainly built display and engineering models for NASA and the Aerospace Industry.  Each model started with an a 3D CAD model of the real project supplied by NASA or the contractor.   If a CAD model wasn't available I created one using reference material such as production blueprints and detailed photographs.  My goal was to make the model as accurate as possible.

The majority of the models were large display and desktop contractor style.  These are different from what you'd get with a model kit.  The exterior has the correct OML (Outer Mold Line) and may have seperate control surfaces and some panel lines but they usually do not include things like a detailed cockpit, landing gear or tiny detals that are easily broken off the model as these are taken all over for meetings, trade shows and exhibits.

The Sci-fi models are my versions of movie miniatures.  I did a few CAD models for Pegasus Hobbies and Fantastic Plastic that were then turned into kits.   As with my Aerospace models I tried to make them as close to the screen used prop as possible.   These models are closer to traditional kits and have more detail.   They are also larger in size than the commerically produced kits.  For example, the P.H. Cosmostrator is much bigger than it's kit version.

If you have any suggestions for a model or need a part designed contact me.

Cheers, JP
