Last Chance Parts, a Lou's Legacy project. The final piece to your puzzle. Don't give up! If you cannot find that part that you need for your project, maybe it is time to just have one made. 3D printing allows your one-of-a-kind part to be affordable and created quickly. If you need a part for your old car or any other antique I can make you a relatively inexpensive plastic or metal replacement. You can send me your rotted original parts, a sketch, or a clay model that you created and I will measure, reverse engineer, and create a SOLID MODEL of your part and upload it to Shapeways and then you can choose what material you would like to use to create the part, pay for it, and receive your part. I will work with you to assure that your finished part has the form, fit, & function that you need. Highly detailed parts may require two or more iterations which would require the purchase of an inexpensive ABS or SLA part, you will then test the fit, I make needed changes until you are sure that the design is exactly what you need, and then you can order the final part made out of stainless steel, brass, steel, silver, or any one of the choices that Shapeways offers. The more information that you can supply makes the whole process easier. There is an up-front charge to design the part, but it is a very reasonable charge to cover my time. If you poke around the existing models on this site, you will see that Shapeways does not gouge you either. This process is cheaper than ANY option that we have had in the past, and you can choose whatever material that you think is best.
OK, OK, enough of that, the previous paragraphs are for the future, in reality I am still working a full-time job and Last Chance Parts is just charity work to help car people create the parts they need.
Last Chance Parts is operated as a part time (not for profit) service to help people that really need an affordable part that doesn’t exist elsewhere. Once my design is available on the Shapeways system, you can order as many as you want and they create perfect copies and ship them to you and you will receive them in one or two weeks, depending on the season. The parts are great.
I ALWAYS recommend buying the CHEAP plastic version FIRST and testing the fit before buying the metal version.
The plastic version does NOT have the fine detail and markings of the metal, but you can confirm that the part will fit.
As a part time (not for profit) service, when you request a totally new design, it can sometimes take a while. If you wanted to pay me for my work, then I could probably carve out the time to turn it around quickly, but for normal folks, waiting is cheaper.
If you need a part, contact me. We can figure it out.
