All the frames posted in the shop were tested for lens insertion and will adjust to the curvature of the lens. Though most opthalmic lenses can be fitted, the current models are intended mainly as reading glasses or a decorative accessory. Any exceptions to this rule will be indicated in product description.
Due to Polyamide’s gentle elasticity the pressure on the nose is minimal and yet firm enough to stay on for extended period of time. Bear in mind, however, - not all noses are created equal :) so a pince-nez may not be for you.
My personal tests of Shapeway’s print and post processing rendition of these models yielded the following:
The ideal render of these models is in “Premium Strong & Flexible” but it's offered only in Black or White and near double the price of simply Strong & Flexible, which is indeed strong and flexible but a bit rough in texture - some people may prefer it this way. “Strong & Flexible Polished” available in all colours are beautifully rendered but structurally a tiny bit weaker than Premium probably for the simple reason that there is some loss of surface material in the polishing process. Overheating the frames in the process of lens incertion may have a destructive effect so please remind your optician to adjust the heater to lower settings.
If you purchase a model and find it to be in need of modification for your personal needs please message me and I'll see what I can do. Also, if you'd like to have one of these frames fitted with optics or demo lenses, you can order them directly from me at additional cost and at an extended delivery time (2 to 3 weeks).
