We are very pleased to finally offer HO scale K brake systems that live up to the standards set by our famous AB brake systems! Both KC (combined) and KD (divided or "split") air brake systems are now available. Early 20th Century modeling awaits!
Regarding the slight price increase seen on our AB brake sets-- after some consideration, we have reverted the "default" material used for these products back to "Smoothest Frosted Detail Plastic" (XSFDP), which they have always used traditionally. We think this will be less confusing to our customers who may be accustomed the slightly-smoother surface finish of that material. Sadly, this decision DOES run into Shapeways' recent price increase of XSFDP material. HOWEVER...
For the best prices when buying our parts, consider choosing "Smooth Fine Detail Plastic" (SFDP) when given the choice! Although it can exhibit a slightly-grainier surface finish than XSFDP on close examination, overall the quality of this material has never disappointed us. For great prices on multiple parts, be sure to choose "Large - Size" where available! For only a few dollars more, you can often double-- or more!-- the number of parts you receive compared to smaller sizes!
