About
At Foreven Shipyards we create starships from the Traveller universe under license from Far Future Enterprises. We are focused on creating the classic starships and small craft commonly used in the Traveller role-playing game. Over time, all the classic ships will become available, plus a few unusual and lesser known designs.
All of our starships and small craft are 1:1000 scale. Each meter in length of the actual ship translates to one millimeter for the model. Starships dimensions have been determined as best we can from various existing Traveller sources, including the T5 Starships and Spacecraft Deck Plans #1 folio, books like Traders and Gunboats, and other deck plans and books. The page for each model has dimensions and comments on the design.
Most of our models are available in Fine Detail Plastic only. Though Shapeways offers less expensive materials, our models have been carefully designed with details that are incompatible with lower resolution materials. Fine Detail Plastic offers an excellent surface for painting, and the resolution it offers means even a simple wash or drybrush over a basecoat will bring out the detailed surface of the model. Our models are meant to be used for gaming, and are designed with appropriate durability in mind. Testing has shown they will stand up to being handled and to drops on a tabletop or carpeted floor.
Our models do not include bases. Each ship model has a 3mm diameter hole on the bottom to accommodate a standard 3mm or 1/8" flight peg. We recommend the flight stands from LITKO Game Accessories. They offer 3mm flight pegs in various lengths, and stands in a huge array of options. A great way to use the peg stands is to glue a 3mm diameter rare earth magnet into the ship, and another to the top of the peg. This will allow you to easily remove and reattach the base during storage. We do also offer a Shapeways printed base. It is a more expensive option but we make it available for convenience.
