Product Description
So you've bought that Bandai "Perfect Grade" 1:72 Falcon kit. And it truly is a marvel. But there are just a couple nagging annoying super-minor things. The missing holes in the Kettenkrad sidewall part. The one-piece engine cooling fans. The internal ramp corridor.

...and now... the two hollow struts on the tiny starboard sidewall greebly!

Yes, this one is kind of stupid, as it's really hard to see. But the Bandai part in question has a solid moulded part. For size reasons, it doesn't have two incredibly fragile twin struts, as the original did back in 1977. Of course, this part is so fragile in real life that the surviving five-foot Falcon model doesn't have these struts at all - they've snapped off somewhere along the line.

Anyway. Just for the true completist, I've replicated this part with a gap between the two struts. Of course, it's not 100% perfect since I had to make the struts thicker than they should be, because much thinner and they wouldn't be printable by Shapeways' machines. I've also had to insert wedges into the narrow struts to strengthen them. Oh well. There's always the knife and the file.

I have also built a three-sided frame around the most fragile bit of the model. This is to  protect the thing, and should be removed upon arrival. I would use a pair of sprue cutters to snip the end of the frame where it touches the model itself.

It's not available in "ultra" frosted detail plastic, as the price is essentially the same as the higher resolution "extreme" frosted detail plastic. Also sorry about the price - most of that is Shapeways' setup fees.
