Kiwi birds are only found in New Zealand and are listed as having a Vulnerable conservation status, as 5-10% survive into adulthood and are largely threatened by invasive mammal species introduced to the island by humans. They lay the largest egg relative to their body size of any bird in the world. This piece has a splayed decorative effect that allows the eye to travel across the neckline.
