The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Koligahr are a species of aquatic jellyfish-like invertebrates rimward of Maesron space. The Koligahr Solidarity was defeated in the First Great War by the Maesron Alliance, but later rose to superpower status due to the Maesron Civil War and Collapse. Koligahr ships are armed with microphasers, antimatter cloud generators, and antimatter cannons. The spherical hull sections of the ships are built underwater, and then launched into space to be assembled in orbit. This method of construction allowed the spheres to be built in bulk and combined into whatever type of ship was needed.
The short carrier, a variant of the destroyer, was one of the earliest carriers in Koligahr service. As Koligahr squadrons are comprised of 10 fighters, this ship does not operate a “short squadron” in the traditional sense; however, with room for only two antimatter cannon-armed fighters instead of the typical three per squadron, it has marginally less striking power than the “full” squadrons deployed aboard the Behemoth carrier or the space control ship. This ship was considered weak in terms of offensive firepower, but at least had a decent power curve for its type.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
