The Romulan Scout Ship appeared only once in the TNG episode "The Defector". The Studio model was then altered to become the Romulan Science Ship. Since the mid 90's, there are blueprints of this ship available showing an optional Photon Torpedo Pod. This pod was never shown on screen, but it fits well if we believe that this ship is a highly modular platform and the Science ship is just another variant. WizKids also seems to like this, as their Tactics/Attack Wing miniatures are also featuring such a pod. Personally i like to think that with this pod, the ship is the Romulan Interceptor that Nog mentions in the DS9 episode "Little Green men".
