An accurate ball-and-stick molecular model of adamantane (C10H16). Adamantane is a highly symmetrical (Td symmetry) polycyclic hydrocarbon and the simplest diamondoid. The carbon atoms are arranged the same way as in the diamond crystal, hence the name. The atoms in this model are designed to have polyhedral shape to invoke the sense of "crystallinity": hydrogen atoms = cuboctahedron; carbon atoms = snub cubes. Scale: 8 mm = 1 angstrom.
