1:144 - DIORAMA : BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER (N°1)
This is a small diorama designed for WWII vehicles. Although I encourage people to create a diorama, not everyone has the time, skills or materials to produce one. For those people this small scene could provide a good starting point. The scene is fictional but designed to be somewhere in Europe (Belgium Ardennes, France). After painting the bridge, water, sand and rocks you can start adding grass-fibres, a few trees, bushes, ... to make this diorama come to life. The model can be glued on a piece of wood to make it more eye-catching. The 'White Strong Flexible' material has a rougher texture and is slightly less detailed than the more expensive 'Frosted detail' material. No vehicles or crew included. Link to my other 1/144 models
The model is designed to be printed in 1 part;
- Length = 164mm
- Width = 94mm
- Height = 21mm
- Road space (width) between both walls of the bridge = 22mm
- Height under the bridge = 12mm
- Designed and optimized for shapeways to produce it in 'White Strong Flexible'.
Before painting, always degrease your model in a glass of lukewarm water and a drop of dishwashing soap (do not use a dishwasher!). Allow it to dry completely before painting.
Aplie a thin layer of paint, use 'drybrush' techniques to bring the detail alive. Paint the inside and figures first before gluing. If you don't have a lot of experience; watch multiple 'tutorials' on youtube about painting diorama's. You can't rush art, so take your time to finish the model ;).
1:144 is a popular scale for aircraft and half the size of 1:72 models. It's a great scale when creating large dioramas with multiple models in one scene, especially if you don't have much space available. You can combine tanks, airplanes, vehicles, buildings... to create an epic historical battle landscape. (Normandy, Battle of the bulge,...)
Also very small diorama's with just one vehicule can be an intriguing 'eye-catcher' on your desk.
Thanks for stopping by & have fun!
