00 Scale Derwent Water Tender Scratch Aid

This is a 00 scale model of the water tender from Stockton & Darlington Railway locomotive ‘Derwent’.  Built in 1845 to the ‘Tory’ class design of Timothy Hackworth, it operated commercially until 1898, last steaming as a preserved engine in 1925.  Today it is displayed at the Darlington Railway Centre and Museum.

This model originated as a jumbo-ised N Gauge engine, suitably altered to 00 operative tolerances and to fit proprietary parts (notably the tender wheelbase for motorising), enabling simple construction.  The matching motorised ‘Derwent’ locomotive and coal tender (the engine having two, one each for coal and water) are separately available.  A variant with finer-scale planking is also available.

IMPORTANT: while most models available here have been pre-tested and known to work, this scratch-aid has not been printed/tested by myself, so while the measurements appear correct it is considered strictly experimental.  

(Note: various materials are provided, however, WSF and BSF will require more preparation for smooth painting that FUD and FED.)
