Product Description

This is my interpretation of the legendary ghost ship.  The Flying Dutchman was renowned for its speed, but since I do not know exactly what the ship looked like, I added several design elements of fast galleons from the late 16th and early 17th centuries.  That being said, this model did end up with an unusual rig, since most galleons with a bonaventure mast did not have more than one topsail on the mizzen... and royal sails (the fourth sail on the mainmast) were unheard of at the time.  That being said, this rig would lend extra speed to the ship, and who's to say it's impossible?  After all, the Dutch were the greatest maritime innovators of the age.  I should mention that this version of the Flying Dutchman has 68 guns, which may be a bit excessive for a merchantman, but few pirates would mess with her.

The "large" model is approximately 1/600 scale.
The "medium" model is approximately 1/750 scale.
The "small" model is approximately 1/1200 scale.
